A Left-Handed Child's Hobby

I grew up in less fortunate family. My life was simple, less complicated, and happy. As a little boy, the first thing I loved was cars. I can still remember when I was a child that I want a remote controlled toy car to the point that I always have it in my dreams. But that thing was only in my dreams because my parents can't afford to buy one for me and remote controlled toys was so expensive at that time. When I start to learn to write I started to love to write my name. I remembered that it takes too long for me to write down my name because I carefully wrote it. I want to write it flawlessly and not even think the time I spent on it, and my two word name was long too. I see it in my childhood that I love calligraphy up until now.

After I wrote my name, the next thing I loved to do as a child was to draw. And the first things I've drawn was shapes that leads me to create another surprising drawing from it. I don't remember anyone in my family has influenced me in act to do these things. Not even my parents because my father passed away when I was just two years old and my mother have left me to my grandparents because she need to find a job to raise me since then. And none in the house have interest in arts. Maybe I have inherited it genetically from my mother because she loves crafts and tinkering but then again I think its different. Many people have told that being left-handed has something to do with it. I want to consider this because many studies and statistics can support the phenomenon that lefties have great talents but I will not conclude it at this moment.

As I grew up, there are a lot of things that I loved to do and have the competitive skills to do it. I also remembered  when I was in kinder school, I used to save some coins just for the old jukebox machine to listen to music. I can't imagine how I love listening to jukebox machine music as a six year old boy. Right now my hobby and interests includes graphics designing, web designing, and computer programming.

How Do I Write

As a left-handed I have my own writing style. As I write, I turn my paper to the left, angled at about 45 degrees. Although my hand is not in a hook position, I hold my pencil towards me then I write straight rising to about 15 degrees. It's like when you see me writing, the direction of my stroke is rising and my writing text is in italic. Nobody had taught me to write this way since my childhood, not even my parents because they let me do my own thing just as long as I can write correctly. And in school, teachers taught me to write but they let me write in the way I am comfortable with.

When I came to school for the first time which in kindergarten, I was so excited that I walked for a kilometer daily just to get to school. And I did it throughout the school year, I walked my way to school one kilometer back and forth daily, and it was nothing for me as a six year old kindergarten. And there are only two things I love to do at school, writing my name and drawing shapes. Loving to do these things leads me to finish my kindergarten with the "Best in Writing" award, my first achievement.

I write this way simply because it is a comfortable way for me. To explain further, the main reason of this is that I can see my writing in this manner.

Many folks say that left-handed persons possess great talents. I never did take this seriously because there are a lot of talented people are right -handed. Until recently, I found that most great artists like Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo, great leaders like Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar are all left-handed. And in my own observation, I also realized that most left-handed have great talents. Other people argue with this but I don’t want to because no matter what the reason is, this interesting phenomenon inspires me. And I know myself that I have a great talent too that needs cultivation.
