Scissors Tips for the Left-Handed

Scissors are one of the most commonly used tools in our everyday life. Long before, scissors were made in favor of the right-handed. Left-handed can do nothing about it but to use it. Today, there are concern people around the world generously creating tools which includes scissors for the left-handers. There are numerous online stores who sell the tools, try Google left-handed tools.

The scissors especially made for left-handers are of great help. But there are a lot of times when we are not at our own home or office desk. Lucky for those who get used to common scrissors or right-handed's scissors because it will never be a problem. But for those who don't, here's my simple tips for you and your kids.

As a left-handed, I have adopted to most of the right-handed tools. And for scissors, I can use both my left and right hand.

For the left-hand, hold the scissors like most people normally do. Now, I assume you had the handle on your thumb and the other or any finger. It is just about pushing and pulling the handles. As you cut, try pulling the handle on the thumb while pushing the other handle on the other finger. It may feel awkward but it can make a cut. For the right-hand, do the opposite. As you cut, push the handle on the thumb while pulling the handle on the other finger.

Keep doing it this way and you will get used to it as you go along.

A Left-handed Child Forced to Use Right Hand

Over the past centuries and decades left-handed children were forced to use their right hand. This happened in most parts of the world, most cultures forced their left-handed children to use the right hand in writing, eating, and working. In fact, over the past decades and beyond all the tools are created for right-handed.

My wife and I are both left-handed. I am so glad that I have never been a victim of this torture where most of my known people have experienced. I was very thankful to my parents because they loved me being a left-handed, they loved me for being unique and were amazed. But my wife did experienced this hardship in her childhood, she was forced by her parents to use her right hand in everything she does. She can only escape from this burden when at school because she was not forced to do everything using her right hand, she had managed to learn her writing skills using her left hand. I asked her about it and how she feels. She told me that it was very hard for her, usually her parents beat her hand until she learned.

I have read from many papers, articles, and news that it is bad for a left-handed child to be forced to learn right-handedness. It affects their whole being, emotionally, mentally and even physically.

One day when my wife and I were eating, she tried to use her left hand on the spoon and she said it is great, she feels more comfort unlike when she used her right hand. So I have a feeling that it is never too late for a forced right-handed person to regain his/her left-handedness. I think it will liberate them and take away the stress they feel consciously or unconsciously.
